“For tomorrow’s pensioners, reaching retirement age may start to feel like chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,  forever receding the nearer they get.”

That about sums it up, doesn’t it?

Across the world, pension and social security systems are struggling

In Denmark, for example, retirees must now wait until they’re 70 to start receiving payments.
And for many people, working into their 70s or even 80s could become their new reality.

It’s not the retirement dream most of us were promised.

But we believe it’s also an opportunity – a wake-up call to redefine what retirement can look like

In today’s world, “retirement” isn’t about stopping work – it’s about starting your next act

Once you hit 50, life begins to shift:

• The kids are grown and independent

• You might be caring for aging parents

• Your own health becomes a bigger focus

• You realise half your life has passed… yet you still feel young, curious, and full of energy

That’s the moment many people start asking:

For us, that question hit hard back in 2005

Our Story – The Wake-Up Call

We’d been self-employed for years, raising our blended family, working hard, and putting every penny into keeping things running.

But when we stopped to look at the bigger picture, we realised something painful:
If we didn’t make a change, we wouldn’t have the retirement lifestyle we’d imagined.

We had all the same worries that might sound familiar to you:

1️⃣ Would we ever have enough to retire comfortably?
2️⃣ What would we do if we stopped working — after such active, busy lives?
3️⃣ Were we too old to start something new?

At the time, we turned to property investment – and for a while, it worked beautifully

Then came 2008

The financial crash changed everything

And suddenly, we were back to square one  with the realisation that we needed to reinvent ourselves… again

The Decision That Changed Everything

It took two years of searching, but we finally found a new path in an online business

Were we nervous?

Absolutely

After all, we were accountants and management consultants not online business owners and marketers!

But we realised something powerful:

If we wanted a different result, we had to do something different

So we learned

We adapted

We built new skills.

And slowly but surely, we created a business that gave us freedom, flexibility, and purpose

Fifteen years later, we’re still here living in Spain, running our location-free business, and doing work we love

We don’t call it “retirement”
